Amsterdam man accused of stabbing person multiple times in Fort Johnson
An Amsterdam man has been arrested for allegedly stabbing a person multiple times in Fort Johnson.
Thaj E. Sobers, 21, was charged with a felony count of second-degree assault and misdemeanor criminal contempt.
State Police troopers responded to the area of State Route 67 in Johnstown for report of a victim with stab wounds to the head and face. The victim was evaluated by EMS and taken to Albany Medical Center, according to a news release.
An investigation determined that just before contacting 911, the victim got into a fight with Sobers in the area of Main Street in Fort Johnson.
Police found Sobers during a traffic stop on Church Street in Amsterdam a short time later.
Further investigation discovered that there was an order of protection in effect prohibiting Sobers from having contact with the victim.
Sobers was arraigned at the Amsterdam City Court and sent to the Montgomery County Correctional Facility in lieu of $50,000 cash, a $100,000 bond, or a $150,000 partially secured bond.
The victim has since been released from the hospital.
