Amsterdam sex offender admits to creating social media profile under different name

An Amsterdam sex offender is facing up to 4 years in prison for creating a Facebook account under a different name.
Darrick Cotton, 38, pleaded guilty in Montgomery County Court to failure to register as a sex offender.
Cotton did not notify the New York State Sex Offender Registry or the local police department that he created a social media profile named “Wolfy Jones,” according to the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office.
Cotton is a Level 3 sex offender, which is deemed the highest risk of reoffending.
Cotton was sentenced in 2016 to 4 years in prison. The victim in that case was four years old, according to the sex offender database.
