Amtrak’s new Albany to NYC train schedule could derail some plans
Amtrak is reducing train service in the Hudson Valley. That means some big changes to Amtrak trains between Albany and New York City.
It’s happening because New York state has begun a $1.6 billion renovation of train tunnels around the New York City area.
They want fewer trains to pass through the tunnel while the work is being done.
This means three daily round trips between Albany and New York City are eliminated.
That 23% reduction in rail service is also expected to increase layover time here at the Rensselaer Amtrak Station by more than an hour for passengers who ride the Adirondack or Maple Leaf trains.
Hear from the Empire State Passengers Association and a solution they want Amtrak to try by watching the video of Dan Levy’s story.
