Announcement in Robert Brooks case expected Monday morning

UTICA, N.Y. (WNYT)- The Onondaga County District Attorney’s Office said a development regarding the death of Marcy Correctional inmate Robert Brooks will be announced Monday at 9:30 a.m. in Oneida County Court.
Five corrections officers were given more time to consider plea deals on Tuesday, April 29. The prosecution agreed to leave the plea deals on the table until May 13 when the judge told them to come back to court.
In February, Brooks’ death was ruled a homicide. Disturbing body camera video showed Brooks being beaten by corrections officers in December 2024.
A total of 17 employees at the prison have either been suspended without pay, or have resigned since Brooks’ death on December 10.
