Arrest made in Rotterdam Walmart shots-fired incident
Rotterdam Police tell us Sunday morning that they have arrested 24-year-old Manief Mullins of Schenectady in connection to the shots-fired incident at a Walmart.
The incident happened around 2:50 p.m. Saturday at the Walmart on Altamont Avenue.
Police said were called to the store for a report of gunshots. Walmart Loss Prevention officers told police on the scene that they attempted to stop a male suspect from shoplifting.
Walmart tells NewsChannel 13 that the store was placed on a lockdown from 2:50 p.m. till 5:20 p.m. on Saturday keeping customers and employees trapped inside.
Through investigation, it was determined that Mullins refused to stop for security and ran away from the store. As he fled, he fired multiple rounds from a handgun, said officials.
Police said no injuries were reported.
Authorities said the suspect, Mullins, was taken into custody Sunday morning around 1 a.m. at a residence in Schenectady without incident. Police add that he is actively a NYS Parolee.
Mullins was charged with the following:
- First-degree reckless endangerment
- First-degree robbery
- Second-degree criminal possession of a weapon
Police said Mullins was processed on the following charges and sent to the Schenectady County Jail. He was arraigned on Monday morning. He is due back in court on Thursday.
