Border Patrol: Honduran national accused of Troy murder turned over to State Police in March
TROY – U.S. Border Patrol said the Honduran national accused of murdering a Troy man on Saturday was turned over to New York State Police after he was apprehended in March.
Carlos Corrales-Ramirez is accused of murdering Jario Hernandez-Sanchez on Saturday afternoon in the area of River and Douw Streets, according to Troy Police. Corrales-Ramirez is also wanted in connection with a stabbing in Maryland.
U.S. Border Patrol in Champlain, N.Y., apprehended Corrales-Ramirez and during processing, found that he had an outstanding warrant for assault and was turned over to State Police as a fugitive from justice. CDP referred additional comment to New York State Police or the Laurel, Maryland Police Department.
The Border Patrol released this statement:
“In March, U.S. Border Patrol in Champlain, NY apprehended Carlos Corrales-Ramirez, a Honduran national suspected to be in the U.S. without status. During intake processing, Border Patrol agents found that this individual had an extraditable warrant from the State of Maryland for assault and was turned over to the custody of the New York State Police as a fugitive from justice. CBP would defer further comment to the New York State Police and/or the Laurel, Maryland Police Department.”
In response, New York State Police sent NewsChannel 13 this statement:
“State Police Champlain processed Carlos Corrales-Ramirez in March of 2023. He was arraigned in Town of Champlain Court and remanded to Clinton County Jail pending extradition. You will need to contact the jail to find out what happened to him while awaiting extradition in Clinton County Jail.”
Corrales-Ramirez is wanted on a charge of first-degree assault stemming from an incident that occurred at a 7-Eleven in Laurel, according to his wanted poster.
