A 17-year-old was under the influence and caused a deadly crash in Colonie on Saturday evening, police said.
The car flipped and hit another car on I-890 around 11 p.m.
Four teenage passengers were in the car that flipped. A 14-year-old boy was killed.
Everyone else – including the driver in the other car – were taken to the hospital. They are expected to be OK.
The 17-year-old suspect was released from the hospital and sent to Oneida County Correctional Facility, which was the closest place available for an adolescent offender, investigators said. He is charged with aggravated vehicular homicide, assault, DWAI and other violations.
The crash remains under investigation.
