Schenectady pizza shop reopens after car crashes into building

Schenectady pizza shop reopens after car crashes into building, caused by an alleged drunk driving.

Broadway Joe’s pizza shop in Schenectady is reopening today – one day after an alleged drunk driver smashed into the building.

Police said Marco Duran was drunk around 4:30 a.m. Wednesday, when he lost control of his vehicle and crashed into the store. Duran got out of the vehicle. He is charged with DWI and due in court later this month.

Broadway Joe’s owner Ross Lackey said the goal is business as usual.

“The place still doesn’t look like it did before, but I’m going to go in, prep, get everything ready, and we’ll get back to work,” he said.

He said he is still waiting to hear from the insurance company how much the damage will cost.
