Catskill middle schoolers charged with causing toxic chemical reaction in toilet
Three middle schoolers in Catskill are accused of causing a toxic chemical reaction in a toilet on Tuesday.
The chemical was lithium from household batteries, investigators said.
The toilet was damaged, and toxic fumes were released into the school, investigators said.
One 13-year-old student and two 12-year-old students face several charges – including arson and criminal mischief.
They were given tickets for family court.
