Charges dismissed in 2020 Kinderhook beating
The case has been dismissed in a 2020 Columbia County beating trial.
Supreme Court Justice Thomas Marcelle dismissed all charges against the defendants in the Harold Handy case, attorney Paul DerOhannesian tweeted.
Four people – including two law enforcement officers – were charged with the 2020 beating of Handy at a Kinderhook party.
The case was upended last year after it was revealed that Handy’s civil attorney had attempted to secure a settlement with a lawyer for one of the defendants. It would have been conditioned on no one being indicted for the incident, the Times Union reported. That deal would have raised ethical as well as potentially criminal issues.
