Coeymans man, mother charged after deputies threatened, assaulted
A man and his mother from Coeymans were arrested Wednesday after he allegedly threatened deputies with a metal object and she assaulted one.
Deputies stopped a vehicle in the area of 1734 Route 9W in the town of Coeymans in the early morning hours for a traffic violation. The driver, 19-year-old Rolland L. Hollins, allegedly became uncooperative and irate, according to the Albany County Sheriff’s Office.
Hollins then entered his residence and got a sharp metal object resembling a knife and threatened the deputies on scene, investigators said. He then is accused of throwing the object at deputies, investigators said.
Melissa M. Albright, 44, allegedly struck a deputy in the head with a closed first to stop her son from being arrested.
Hollins was charged with criminal possession of a weapon, menacing a police officer with a weapon, obstructing governmental administration, resisting arrest and driving while intoxicated.
Albright was charged with assault, obstructing governmental and administration and resisting arrest.
They were scheduled to be arraigned Wednesday morning at Coeymans Town Court
