A Cohoes man was convicted Wednesday on charges that he sexually abused a child over several years.

Douglas Eckler, 29, was found guilty of one count of predatory sexual assault against a child following a jury trial.

Prosecutors said Eckler abused the child under the age of 13 between the spring of 2020 and Feb. 28, 2023. Eckler knew the victim.

He faces up to 25 years to life in prison when sentenced on Dec. 8.
