Colonie man charged with DWI after fleeing Clifton Park traffic stop

A man from Colonie has been arrested for allegedly leaving a traffic stop on the Northway in Clifton Park.
Anthony Hawkins, 30, was stopped by state police.

He failed to follow instructions and fled in his car, nearly hitting the trooper, investigators said.

The car was located a short distance away and was abandoned.

Hawkins eventually turned himself in to police.

He is facing several charges, including DWI and reckless endangerment.
