Cohoes market destroyed by fire
A Cohoes market on Remsen Street was destroyed by fire.
COHOES, N.Y. (WNYT)- A family-owned business in Cohoes was destroyed by fire Saturday morning.
At around 7:45am, firefighters got a tip from a passerby alerting them to a fire at 203 Remsen Street.
Firefighters say the fire started in the kitchen of the convenience store when the staff turned on the fryer as they were getting ready to start the day.
The building next door also suffered some smoke and water damage.
“By the time we got here, the fire was already up on the first floor, kitchen fire, extended into the wall up to the second floor and was in the roof by the time we got here,” said Cohoes Fire Captain John Marra.
Authorities say there were no injuries from the fire.
