DA: Local attorney’s alleged crimes include stealing alcohol from store, trying to bite cop

A local attorney has been indicted on 21 counts for alleged crimes that include stealing alcohol from a supermarket, assaulting a woman and trying to bite an Albany Police officer.

Luke Malamood, 40, is facing charges of assault, attempted assault, robbery, criminal contempt and menacing in connection with incidents from 2024 and 2025, according to the Albany County District Attorney’s Office.

Malamood allegedly violated an order of protection in Albany County Family Court over several days in July and August 2024.

Malamood is also accused of stealing alcoholic beverages from a Market 32 on Central Avenue in Albany on Dec. 4 of last year. He then tried to bite an Albany Police officer when he was being arrested, according to prosecutors.

The last alleged crime occurred on April 24. Malamood was arrested at his home after police said he struck a female acquaintance and tried to steal property from her.

Malamood pleaded not guilty and was sent to Albany County Jail. He is due back in court for a conference on May 22.
