Woman charged in manslaughter in fatal crash

A Delmar woman was charged in manslaughter in fatal crash on the Thruway that killed a person.

A Delmar woman has been charged with manslaughter for allegedly driving drunk on the wrong side of the Thruway and killing a man in a crash.

The crash happened on Feb. 19 just before 8:45 p.m. It was in the westbound lane of I-90 between Exit 27 and Exit 28.

Veronica Armbruster, 59, was driving east in the westbound lane, State Police said.

She crashed into Cole M. Sevigny, 26, of New Hampshire. Sevigny was pronounced dead at St. Mary’s Hospital. Armbruster was taken to Albany Medical Center for treatment of her injuries, police said.

Armbruster had a blood alcohol concentration of 0.16% – twice the legal limit. 

Armbruster was charged with second-degree manslaughter, second-degree vehicular manslaughter, driving while intoxicated, and other vehicle and traffic law violations. She was arraigned in Amsterdam City Court and sent to Montgomery County Jail in lieu of bail at $10,000 cash, $100,000 bond or $100,000 partially secured bond.
