Documents: suspended Cambridge-Greenwich police chief collects over $33,000 while not working
The Washington County police chief who has been off the job since his arrest over the summer in a domestic incident has collected over $33,000 in salary while not working.
Cambridge-Greenwich Police Chief Robert Danko was arrested in July and charged with unlawful imprisonment and a violation of harassment. He was accused of holding a woman he knew against her will back in June.
Danko pleaded guilty earlier this month to the reduced charge of disorderly conduct. He was fined and an order of protection was put in place.
Danko was paid $33,276.96 in salary from July 18 through Dec. 19, according to information obtained through a Freedom of Information Law request. The village also paid out $7,559.33 for Danko’s health care benefits and $9,650.32 toward his retirement.
Danko had started with the police department 16 years ago and had been the sergeant in charge until he was sworn in as chief – one week before his arrest.
Mayor Carman Bogle said on Monday, Dec. 30 that Danko was still on paid administrative leave. She did not respond to a question regarding whether he would be terminated.
