E-ZPass website and Tolls NY mobile app to go offline ahead of upgrade
ALBANY, N.Y. (WNYT)- The New York State Thruway Authority is encouraging E-ZPass users and travelers to make payments or changes to their account before April 9. An upgrade is planned for the system that will make the E-ZPass website and Tolls NY mobile app inaccessible between 7 p.m. April 9 through April 14.
Customers will also be unable to reach a customer service representative during the April 9-14 timeframe as well. The 1-844-826-8400 Tolls by Mail number is being discontinued and the 1-800-333-8655 E-ZPass customer service line will not be available.
“When completed, customers will be able to complete most transactions or updates effortlessly on their computers or mobile devices and be able to get the assistance they need more quickly or without having to wait on hold for extended periods of time,” said Thruway Authority Executive Director Frank G. Hoare.
The upgrade will consolidate the E-ZPass and Tolls by Mail website to be hosted by e-zpassny.com. In addition to being able to view tolls bills, transactions and images, the redesigned website will have enhanced features for customers including:
- Live chat
- Expanded payment options
- Streamlined customer service center
- Redesigned Interactive Voice Response
- Increased self-service functions
- New toll bill format
Late fees for tolls incurred and Toll by Mail payment due dates will be pushed until after April 14 while the systems are down the Thruway Authority said. Accounts will not go to collections until after the systems are back up.
