ESPN commentator gets people riled up with dig at Albany
It was the shot heard round the Capital Region during Tuesday night’s Elite 8 matchup between LSU and Iowa.
ESPN commentator and Hall of Famer Rebecca Lobo poked fun at the capital city in the final moments of the game.
She was discussing how Caitlin Clark told her family she would be staying in her hotel room during the game and encouraged them to find something to do in Albany.
“Good luck finding something to do in Albany,” said Lobo on the air, as she laughed.
As you can expect, it’s gotten a lot of reaction.
The USS Slater is opening up for the season starting Wednesday.
The Tulip Festival is coming in May, and the city just hosted a March Madness tournament.
Not many cities get to say they hosted the No. 1 player in women’s college basketball.
Most people who are from Albany disagreed with Lobo’s harsh comment. However, some did agree that there could be more stuff to do in the wintertime.
