Family identifies pilot who crashed in Colonie
The family of the pilot who crashed in Colonie has now identified her.
“It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved daughter, sister, and friend, Natalie Gillis,” wrote Matthew Yap in a Facebook post. “Natalie tragically passed away on June 17, 2024 in Albany, New York, doing what she loved.”
The plane had been doing surveying activities in North Carolina, and had stopped in Albany to refuel.
It crashed around 8:15 a.m., right after taking off from the Albany International Airport.
The NTSB is now investigating the cause of the crash.
