State fire protection specialists gave a demonstration Monday morning on how to safely fry turkeys.

The demonstration, at Northeastern Industrial Barn, included how to safely fry a turkey, how to avoid starting fires and ways to prevent from getting burned.

When turkey frying goes wrong, it causes an average of five deaths, 60 injuries and more than $15 million in property damage each year, according to the National Fire Protection Association.
