Freihofer’s Run for Women changing name

A longtime Capital Region run has a new name. Leaders for the Freihofer’s Run for Women announced Tuesday that the name is changing to the “Delightful Run for Women Presented By Sara Lee Bread.”

The Freihofer’s Run for Women is changing its name to the Delightful Run for Women.

The announcement was made on Wednesday morning.

The race is presented by Sara Lee, which is the national bakery brand that makes Delightful Bread. It provides this event even more national recognition, race officials said.  

The run has put Albany on the map of international running competition.

The class and caliber of previous race participants is legendary. It includes Olympians, NCAA champions, and elite runners from around the region and the nation. That will continue.

This year’s version of the Delightful Run for Women also includes the featured 5K race, along with the Kids Run, and the Capital Kids 3K Run.

This will be the run’s 46th year.
