Glens Falls schools reviewing safety protocols after child wanders into pond
The Glens Falls City School District is reviewing its safety protocols after an elementary school student wandered off the playground and waded into Crandall Pond.
The incident happened at Kensington Elementary School on Monday.
As soon as staff realized that the child was missing, the district began a search. A community member found the child within minutes and the student is safe.
The district said that plans are underway to extend the fencing across the wooded section of the school's playground.
The Glens Falls City School District is reviewing its safety protocols after an elementary school student wandered off the playground and waded into Crandall Pond.
The incident happened at Kensington Elementary School on Monday.

The district said that plans are underway to extend the fencing across the wooded section of the school’s playground.
“This is something we never want to have happen, and thankfully this is a very atypical event,” said Superintendent Dr. Krislynn Dengler in a statement. “Several adults monitor our recess periods. We are now reviewing the stationing and placement of staff members to optimize sight lines across the large playground area.”
