A Gloversville man has been charged with rape after crashing vehicle.

State Police responded to the area of State Route 5 in Mohawk on Dec. 19 around 6:15 p.m. for reports of a hit-and-run crash into a guide rail. Troopers found the vehicle involved with damage parked in a nearby pull-off area.

Police said they found Hernan Julia, 44, engaged in sexual activity with a teenage juvenile under the age of 16.

Julia was charged with third-degree rape and endangering the welfare of a child. He was arraigned in Mohawk Town Court and sent to Montgomery County Correctional Facility in lieu of $10,000 cash, $20,000 bond, or a $30,000 partially secured bond.
