Prominent state Democrats and Latino leaders joined the governor in asking that LaSalle receive a fair hearing on Wednesday. They’re pushing back on claims that he is too conservative, and his nomination should be withdrawn.
Hochul pledged Saturday to stand by LaSalle — a veteran judge who would be the first judge of Puerto Rican heritage to lead the seven-member high court.
The governor called him “eminently qualified” for the position.
