Gov Hochul to deploy shark monitoring drones
As Long Island deals with a tide of shark sightings, Governor Kathy Hochul is announcing Friday that there will be dozens of new shark monitoring drones.

The new drones will be distributed across downstate by the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation.
They will also be training local personnel to operate the drones.
To avoid sharks when swimming, the DEC recommends avoiding areas with seals, schools of fish, and splashing fish.
They also recommend avoiding murky water and avoid swimming at dusk, night and dawn.
