Governor Hochul announces major increase in red flag law use

Governor Hochul says there has been a major increase in red flag law usage by law enforcement state wide.

The red flag law prevents people who show any signs of being a threat to themselves or others from buying any type of fire arm.

Hochul announced that more of these extreme risk protection orders have been issued in the past three months, more than in all of 2021.

There has been more than a 75 percent increase in using the red flag law over the last three months.
