Guilderland Police investigating middle school student’s ‘kill list’
Guilderland Police are investigating an incident in which a middle school student had what an official called a “kill list” on a personal electronic device.
On Friday, Superintendent Marie Wiles sent a letter to parents stating school officials were made aware Thursday of a Farnsworth Middle School student who had a list of school community members they intended to harm. The administration began investigating. The student was removed from school and school officials contacted law enforcement.
The student’s list was shared on social media. The initial post was taken down, but school officials said it has recirculated, the district said.
“The safety of all of our students and staff is our highest priority and the district takes these types of threats seriously,” Wiles said in a statement. “We encourage families to talk to students about what they read and share online; if you see something, say something. As always, we are thankful for the vigilance of our community in reporting their concerns to us.”
Anyone with information is asked to contact the district officer at 518-456-6200.
