Hearing delayed on request to block use of herbicide in Lake George

Hearing to block use of pesticide in Lake George delayed

A hearing for request to block use of a controversial controversial pesticide in Lake George has been delayed. The Adirondack Park Agency board voted on June 20 to approve the use of ProcellaCor to kill the invasive plant species milfoil in the water. The Lake George Association has filed an injunction in Warren County Supreme Court to prevent the use of ProcellaCor because they are worried about introducing a chemical into the lake. The Lake George Park Commission said that the herbicide has been used in hundreds of other lakes without any adverse effects to the environment or humans.

A hearing on the motion was scheduled for Monday but it has been postponed until Friday, June 28 at 1 p.m.

The delay was to allow Judge Robert Muller time to review documents submitted by both sides.

Some protestors showed up at court in a sign of support, holding signs that said, “Not 1 drop” and “Save Lake George.”
