Gov. Kathy Hochul has activated New York State’s Emergency Operations Center due to the heat.
Heat like this can be dangerous, the governor explained, and New Yorkers should take every precaution to stay cool.
“I know New Yorkers are tough. We think we can handle it all without breaking a sweat — and we probably will,” said Hochul. “But we’ll be able to get through this because we’ll be prepared.”
The governor has also activated the National Guard to be prepared to go assist wherever necessary.
Several cooling centers are also open here in the Capital Region. You can find a list here.
