Hudson Police: No attempted kidnapping took place
The Hudson Police Department has determined that an attempted kidnapping did not happen, and the incident was a misunderstanding.
Police located the vehicle and driver on Saturday and learned that a language barrier led to a misinterpretation of events.
The driver had observed a child dropping a jacket on the bicycle and walking path. In an attempt to inform the child, the driver stopped and made a hand gesture pointing to the rear of the vehicle, police said.
The driver had a strong accent and the child believed they were being told to get into the back of the van.
No crime was committed.
