Johnstown man faces more theft charges

A Johnstown man arrested last month in connection with a series of thefts is facing new charges.
Ricky A. Hemstreet II, is accused of entering the Walmart in Glenville on March 26 and March 27 and stealing merchandise. Hemstreet had been banned from all Walmart properties because of similar thefts, police said.
Hemstreet was arrested last month for allegedly stealing wire and other metal material from properties in Amsterdam, Cobleskill, Florida and Fonda from February to April. Hemstreet is accused of causing extensive damage by stealing wires installed as a utility. State Police said he then turned over that metal to a scrapyard for money.
Hemstreet was also arrested by the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office for allegedly stealing propane tanks from a railyard in the town of Mohawk.
Hemstreet is being held at Fulton County Jail.
