Jury selection began Tuesday in the trial for a man accused of killing his wife and son in Duanesburg.
Nelson Patino is charged with first and second-degree murder.
Patino called 911 in December 2021 to tell them he stabbed his family, investigators said.
Schenectady County sheriff’s deputies raced to the home in the area of Duanesburg Road and Depot Road. They ordered Patino to come out of the home with his hands up.
There was a language barrier, police said, but Patino eventually came out peacefully.
Police found Patino’s wife and 5-year-old son dead in the home.
A 2-year-old child survived the attack.
