Spring is officially here, and that means one thing for farmers in the Northeast—maple season is in full swing! At Dry Brook Sugar House, the annual tradition of tapping maple trees and collecting sap is underway, marking the start of another busy and sweet season.
This year, Dry Brook Sugar House is also participating in New York’s Maple Weekend, an event organized by the New York State Maple Producers’ Association. The event invites visitors to experience the sugarmaking process firsthand, learn about the history and traditions of maple production, and—of course—sample fresh, pure maple syrup in its many delicious forms.

Visitors to Dry Brook Sugar House can see the sap-to-syrup process up close, from tree tapping to boiling in an evaporator. It takes about 40 gallons of sap to produce just one gallon of syrup. With climate conditions playing a crucial role in sap flow, local farmers are mindful of the impact of warming winters and unpredictable temperature swings on future production.
