The city of Albany is taking another step to make streets safer for everyone, especially kids on their walk to school.

The city activated its first school speed zone cameras near three different schools, including Albany High School.
Along with the cameras, the city speed limit will be reduced from 30 miles per hour to 25 miles per hour starting on January 1.
Cameras for 30 days will give warning notices to drivers who speed. After that 30 days, speeding violations will result in tickets, the mayor said.
Parents expressed concern about speeding near the high school, the mayor said.
