Malta man arrested on various charges stemming from a domestic incident call, said police

The Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office arrested Jerrid J. Harpster, 26, of Malta on Saturday after responding to an active domestic incident call.

Officials responded to the incident call on Lakeside Avenue in Malta around 10:42 a.m.

Harpster is accused of intentionally physically injuring another person while also violating a court order of protection. He allegedly punched the victim in the face and ear, said the Sheriff’s Office.

Police say he is accused of tampering with property of another person with the intent to cause substantial inconvenience to the person. Harpster is alleged to have sprayed hand sanitizer lotion on the victim’s jacket, officials added.

He is also accused of committing a specified offense having been previously convicted of an offense within the last five years.

The Sheriff’s Office charged Harpster with the following:

  • Third-degree assault
  • Third-degree criminal tampering
  • Aggravated criminal contempt
  • Aggravated family offense

Harpster was arraigned in Malta Town Court and remanded to Saratoga County Jail pending further proceedings.
