Malta shaken up by second shooting in as many days
The quiet Saratoga County community of Malta has been shaken by two shootings in as many days.
State Police shot and killed Brandon Moore, 37, after they saw he pointed a gun at them.
This comes after on Wednesday, 69-year-old David M. Levine arrived at the State Police Malta barracks parking lot armed with a long gun. He fired several rounds into the building.
Levine refused multiple commands to drop the weapon and aimed at troopers, police said. They then fired their guns and killed him.
NewsChannel 13’s Tessa Bentulan has been working to learn more about this incident.
Emily Krolak works at a real estate office across the street, said she heard three gunshots, which she initially thought was a car backfiring.
Krolak said it is a very quiet neighborhood and the police, fire and ambulance stations right nearby.
“I say quite often that it feels like a very safe place, so it’s crazy to think that something actually happened that distance (away), but so thankful that they were right there to protect everybody,” she said.
NewsChannel 13 is working to learn more about the suspect. A search of property records shows that Levine owned a house on Rowley Road, which he took a mortgage out on in 2024.
