Man, 40, drowns on Great Sacandaga Lake
Police are investigating the drowning of a 40-year-old man on Great Scandaga Lake on Sunday.
The Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a drowning near Mountain Stream Lane in the town of Edinburg at around 12:30 p.m.
The man had attempted to swim from the shore about 40 yards to a waiting vessel. He was observed going under water and not coming back up by a witness who unsuccessfully attempted to locate him.
Scuba divers from the South Glens Falls Fire Department found him and attempted to resuscitate him but were unable to do so. Numerous area fire departments and EMS companies assisted at the scene.
The matter is still under investigation.
