Man gets life without parole in Pittsfield woman’s killing
A Pittsfield man was sentenced to life in prison without parole for killing a woman in 2019.
Tyler Sumner was found guilty by a jury last month of first-degree murder in the death of Stephanie Olivieri, 32, on Aug. 25, 2019, near the intersection of South John Street and Columbus Avenue. She was not the intended target.
Sumner’s sentencing followed an emotional victim impact statement from Olivieri’s sister Nicholas Olivieri. According to NewsChannel 13’s media partners at The Berkshire Eagle, Olivieri told the court that when his sister died, “an entire pillar holding up my life was ripped out from under me.”
Her mother said that her daughter wasn’t finished living.
“The only thing that remains untouched, even by Tyler Sumner, are my memories of her,” she added.
Sumner was the only person tried in the killing, although testimony indicates that three people were present at the ambush-style shooting, the paper reported.
