A Washington County grand jury has returned an indictment in the shooting death of Kaylin Gillis, 20.

NewsChannel 13 has learned the murder indictment against Kevin Monahan, 65, was handed up late Thursday morning.

Monahan is accused of shooting and killing Gillis on the night of April 15 as she rode in an SUV that had mistakenly driven up his driveway in Hebron.

The three-count indictment accuses Monahan of murder – that he acted with a depraved indifference toward human life.

He’s also accused of reckless endangerment, presumably related to putting others in the SUV at risk, and tampering with physical evidence.

Many in the community are heartbroken over Gillis’ sudden death and have rallied around her grieving family.

Monahan continues to be held in jail without bail, after a New York State Supreme Court judge ruled that the county court followed the law when he sent Monahan to jail without bail.
