Man shot by troopers in South Glens Falls last month faces new charges
A man police shot after crashing his vehicle in South Glens Falls last month is facing new charges for an incident in February.
Billy Cassell III, 45, of Kingsbury, is accused of striking a woman and displaying a weapon during a domestic incident on Feb. 15 in the town of Kingsbury. Cassell also violated an order of protection, the Washington County Sheriff’s Office said.
Cassell was charged with aggravated family offense, criminal contempt and a felony count and misdemeanor count of criminal possession of a weapon. He is also facing misdemeanor charges of assault and menacing.
Cassell is already facing charges from the incident last month. State Police attempted to pull him over on April 23 on Route 9 for an outstanding warrant. Cassell did not stop and crashed his truck into a house at the corner of Route 9 and Catherine Street, police said. Police said he refused commands to drop a 12-gauge shotgun. He raised it, and then police fired at him, striking him in the shoulder.
Cassell is being held in Saratoga County Jail.
He is due back in Moreau Town Court on May 21 on those charges.
