The man accused of firing a gun inside a hotel near Crossgates Mall on Sept. 22 has pleaded not guilty.
Chandler McCray, 33, appeared in court on Thursday morning.
He fired 14 times inside the Hilton Tru/Homewood Suites Hotel, investigators said.
Police evacuated guests and McCray surrendered after a nearly two-hour standoff.
McCray’s bail was set at $50,000 cash and $100,000 bond.
His attorney asked for the bail, citing no attempted murder charge anymore, strong family support, and recent injuries at Albany County Correctional Facility.
McCray is also not receiving his mental health medication, according to his attorney.
This is not McCray’s first run in with the law. He has one past felony conviction, three misdemeanors, and has failed to appear in court five times, investigators said.
He’s due back in court Oct. 19 at 9:30 a.m.
