A man police said was wearing a clown mask and wielding a chainsaw was a tackled by a resident of a Cohoes neighborhood last week.

Cohoes Police Chief Todd Waldin said it happened on Thursday.

Craig Wolcott, 34, of Albany, was walking in the area of 120 Lancaster St. around 2:40 p.m.

“He started to look into people’s vehicles. One of the neighbors came out to ask what he was doing,” he said.

Wolcott started to walk toward that person, according to Waldin. He then tackled him to the ground.

When police arrived, they separated the two and tried to figure out what was going on.

Wolcott also had a metal knuckle knife, according to Wolcott.

The incident happened very quickly. Waldin said police don’t know what Wolcott was allegedly doing in that area. He has not been cooperative, police said.

Wolcott was charged with two counts of criminal possession of a weapon and one count of menacing. He is being held in Albany County Jail.
