Albany County judge chides man at sentencing over terroristic threat

Jeffrey Rockefeller from the town of Berlin will spend the next 6 years in prison for making a terroristic threat. He was convicted of threatening to harm an Albany Police. The judge had strong words for him at the sentencing.

A Berlin man will spend the next six years in prison for making a terroristic threat. Jeffrey Rockefeller was convicted of threatening to harm an Albany Police detective last February at Albany Police headquarters.

“When things didn’t go your way in how to handle it properly, you threatened a judge. That’s unacceptable,” said Judge Thomas Marcelle.

A jury also found Rockefeller guilty of threatening to commit murder in the area of Albany Law School and threatening to physically harm a member of the Albany Community Police Review Board. However, Rockefeller argued he was the victim in the case.

“I’m the one whose car was stolen from me by this police department. I don’t think you fully appreciate the need to deal with what you’re doing and that bullying, intimidating and threatening people leaves harm.

“What troubles me deeply is that during the course of this proceeding you made threats against Judge Ackerman,” replied Marcelle.

Rockefeller will be under probation for three years when he gets out of prison. The judge also put restraining orders in place to protect the victims.
