Breaking barriers as first female mayors in their cities
The city of Troy is 209 years old. The city of Albany is 339 years old. In those hundreds of years, both cities have one woman mayor. Both of those mayors are in office right now.
The cities of Troy and Albany are making history.
They are both being led by their first female mayors. Troy Mayor Carmella Mantello is in her first term. Albany Mayor Kathy Sheehan is in her third term, having been elected in 2013.
Both women are aware of the significance and hope that it will be a source of inspiration for others.
NewsChannel 13’s Subrina Dhammi sat down with both for Women’s History Month. Hear their story.
