Pelletier sentenced to 22 years in prison for 2023 attack

A Moreau man was sentenced on Wednesday to 22 years in prison for attacking a woman he met on a dating app. Michael Pelletier was convicted in September of first-dree sexual abuse, criminal sex act and second-degree assault and endangering the welfare of a child. . The incident happened at a home on Selfridge Road Moreau on June 24, 2023.

A Moreau man was sentenced on Wednesday to 22 years in prison for attacking a woman he met on a dating app.

Michael Pelletier was convicted in September of first-degree sexual abuse, criminal sex act and second-degree assault and endangering the welfare of a child.

The incident happened at a home on Selfridge Road Moreau on June 24, 2023. Pelletier assaulted the 31-year-old victim inside his home with children present, according to the Saratoga County District Attorney’s Office.

The victim provided a statement to the court a sentencing, saying she was furious that Pelletier did not own up to what he did.

“He chose not to hold himself accountable. I am furious, disgusted and humiliated. He took the person I was then away, and I’m never going to get her back. I will never be the same person he took from me, and even though I will start to heal, this is something you never truly recover from. This will affect me for the rest of m life. Every day is like a battle for me to get through, and the fault lies with (the defendant’s) choices to violently assault me.”

Judge Jim Murphy told the defendant “This is no means no” and he acknowledged that the victim is a survivor. 

Pelletier also received 20 years of post-release supervision.
