Mother accused of killing day-old baby back in court
The mother accused of killing her one-day-old baby in Albany 27 years ago was back in court on Friday.
Keri Mazzuca is facing murder charges related to the death of her newborn. She is also charged with concealment of a human corpse and tampering with physical evidence. The baby came to be known as Baby Moses. The child was found in Washington Park back in September of 1997.
Cameras were not allowed into the proceeding, but NewsChannel 13 spoke to her lawyer, Andrew Safranko, afterward.
“We obviously have to get down to where we are in this case, what did or did not occur? And really we now need to see the evidence, what evidence was collected and how we got to this point. A lot of evidence has been lost,” said Andrew Safranko.
Police were eventually led to Mazzuca using DNA technology and forensic genealogy.
