One person has died, and six people were taken to the hospital after a major fire at 54 Broad St. in Waterford.

The call for help came in around 3:45 a.m. for a building structure fire that included two apartments above Bill’s Card Shaq.

Six people were taken to a nearby hospital, according to the Waterford fire chief. No firefighters were hurt.

The structure now has significant fire and water damage, investigators said. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

The name of the person who died is being withheld until family is notified.
