No one hurt in Schenectady house fire
A fire in Schenectady Tuesday night is under investigation.
Firefighters responded to 817 Genesee St. just before 10:30 p.m. There was heavy fire on the first floor, according to a fire official, Some firefighters immediately entered the building to ensure that everyone was out while others battled the fire.
No one was home at the time of the fire. A mother, three children and some cats live there.
The fire was under control in around 50 minutes.
No one was hurt. There was heavy fire, smoke and water damage on the first and second floors and smoke and water damage in the basement, according to fire investigators. A car in the driveway also was damaged.
While at the scene, a second fire was reported at the General Electric main plant. Niskayuna and Scotia firefighters provided mutual aid. The fire was contained to a piece of machinery, firefighters said.
