The NTSB is out with its preliminary report on the deadly June 17 plane crash in Colonie. There were no mechanical issues, they said, and there’s still no definitive cause.
The airplane struggled to make it to 800 feet, according to the report. It then lost altitude and rolled a few times before crashing in a wooded area near the William K. Sanford Library.
Most of the plane was destroyed by fire.
The pilot, Natalie Gillis, 34, of Canada, was killed. A person on the ground had minor injuries.
The town of Colonie is planning a permanent memorial for the crash site.
